The Maunder Minimum was from 1645 to 1710, a period of time known as the Little Ice Age. It was a bleak time of reduced sunspot activity resulting in lower terrestrial temperatures. This reduction of solar irradiance, an era of colder earth, coincided with the burning of witches in Salem. My offering to those witches is the scent of a quiet, numbing landscape, of the forest, snow and mint.
